Benue killings: Perpetrators are not our members, Miyetti Allah reacts

The National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Baba Othman Ngelzarma has condemned the recent killings in Benue adding that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are not their members.

Recall that some criminals attacked Umogidi village in Benue State recently, killing over 80 persons.

While describing the attack as an act of criminality, Ngelzarma said that similar attacks were carried out at the border of Benue and Nasarawa States where over 30 pastoralists were killed.

He also said that just a week after 30 pastoralists were killed, the Benue State Treasurer for MACBAN was traced to his house by criminals and was killed.

He, however, said that these attacks by criminals have not spared anybody including herdsmen, hence, it should be condemned by all.

“I have not received any report from my Benue State representative telling me that they are our members, after all this thing is not new, you can bear me witness on an attack that took place some months back where over 30 pastoralists were killed in the border of Benue and Nasarawa, and a week after that, our Benue State treasurer was followed to his house and was assassinated.

“These are activities of criminals because even the herdsmen were not spared. So, if there is occurrence of that nature, we just associate it with criminals, whether they are Tivs or Fulani, whoever they are, they are criminals, it is an act of criminality.

“So, they are condemnable things, we condemn them in totality”, the MACBAN President added.

Recall that in 2018, Ngelzarma who was the National Secretary of MACBAN while speaking exclusively with Nigerian Tribune had condemned Anti-Open Grazing law in Benue.
