Beneficiaries laud foundation over N200,000 business grants

Beneficiaries of the business grant provided by Henry Montego Foundation have showered encomiums on the foundation for contributing to the development of their businesses.

The beneficiaries were asked to pitch their business ideas and out of all who pitched, 13 contestants emerged winners of the competition.

One of them, 25-year old Ms Joseph Olabisi, who is a bag maker with variety of materials, said that the fulfillment of promise by the Foundation showed that there is hope for the Nigerian youth as many would have reneged.

Joseph, who said she went through all the laid down procedure for the pitch, expressed surprise at her selection, adding that it is a show of belief in what she is doing.

“I got to know through a friend. He told me about it and I went online to go through the process. We were asked to send a Direct Message if we knew we could start a business with N200,000 and they replied.

“After the interview, we were asked to wait for response regarding those they would pick and I was shortlisted.

“I am very excited because it shows the man believes in what I am doing and this would help me do more for myself,” she said.

A hairstylist, Blessing Ndubokwu, who noted that the grant would go a long way, said that finance had been her major challenge in business for the past four years.

Ndubokwu, therefore, expressed gratitude to the foundation for counting her worthy of the opportunity out of the 50 youths who also pitched their business ideas during the competition.

“I have been into this business for like four years but I have been looking for finance to strengthen my business.

“Until I stumbled on Henry’s post expressing the willingness to help 50 youths in their businesses, I would not have been able to achieve anything in this regard,” Blessing said.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive Officer, Henry Montego Foundation, Mr. Henry Ebuluofor said the goal of the Foundation is to make a true change in the society and which should not only be in the purview of the government alone.

He noted that the grant was borne out of the fact that there are a lot of talented and gifted Nigerians that can contribute effectively towards the change of the society but bedeviled by lack of finance.

He added that his vision is to empower people in order not make them go through the hurdles he faced while
trying to get better in life.
