Being beautiful is great tool to success ― Sandra Aburime

Published by

Sandra Aburime, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lucious Virgin Hair began to savour the sweet aroma of wealth and success from her university days.

Before her graduation, she had bought for herself a car and built her first house. As a beautiful woman, the road might have been made easy by her charm but she’s emphatic she got no help from no quarters except the grace of God.

Speaking with Tribune Online about the success she has recorded over in life and how her beauty aided it, the entrepreneur said, “ Being a beautiful woman is a great tool if you use it well, you see young beautiful ladies becoming top models, brand ambassadors attaining some great heights. Being a beautiful woman with brains is the perfect combination for any woman because the sky would be her limit.”

Speaking further she asserted that beauty does come with its own disadvantages in an environment such as Nigeria, if not Africa as a whole as successful women are seen as prostitutes or even criminals.

Hear her: “There are so many advantages and disadvantages of being a beautiful woman, especially a beautiful and successful woman. It is sad to say in a country like Nigeria and probably in Africa, it has been a major issue. Ladies complaining of harassment either vocally, physically or even online. We, in Nigeria, believe once a beautiful lady is successful she is either a prostitute, or she got her money illegally.”

Speaking about herself and how she made Lucious Virgin Hair a popular brand in Nigeria, she said, “ I like to think of myself as someone who likes to have a balance between work and playtime. I like to give my total commitment to whatever I set my mind to, I would say my personality is more or less like an extrovert and sometimes I can be an introvert as well.

“You need to have passion for any business you want to venture in, and be very smart and strategic. I chose to put my skincare line on hold to focus more on the virgin hair business because I understood that the market was very lucrative as at then. That was the reason I went with the virgin hair business but hopefully like pretty soon we would be launching our skincare line soon,” she added.

Sandra Aburime founded Lucious Virgin Hair in 2012. Her journey into entrepreneurship began far back in her university days.

She said it all started as fun because she enjoyed shopping then realized she could actually sell and make extra money for herself and that was it, the rest was history as they say. After graduation, she had made a lot of money and was already a millionaire.

“I would also love to create a platform for young and new entrepreneurs to thrive in, create a free skill acquisition scheme to empower youths who would love to go into hair business and styling,” she stated.
