Bauchi supplies relief materials to IDPs who fled Yobe following Boko Haram attack

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has approved the immediate supply of relief materials to cushion the hardship being experienced by the refugees in the four local government areas.

The refugees were internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled Gaidam and Kenam in Yobe State following a recent attack by insurgents.

The items supplied to the IDPs include 1,750 bags of rice, 1,050 bags of maize, 1,750 bags of sorghum, 1,050 cartons of spaghetti, 350 bags of sugar and 3,500 cartons of noodles.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday at the Government House, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado said that no single attack by Boko Haram or any criminal elements has occurred in the four Local Government Areas or any Local Government for that matter in the state.

He gave the general overview of the security situation in the border communities of the four Local Governments as an influx of refugees (IDPs) into Gamawa and Dambam Local Government as a result of the Gaidam attack.

The SA Media added that the government has developed a template for security monitoring and operations in the border areas explaining that the government called the security meeting to take proactive measures that will guarantee the security of the citizen, especially in border areas of Dambam, Zaki, Gamawa and Darazo Local Government Areas.
