The judicial arm of governance Bauchi State has been enjoined to establish a robust judicial and administrative framework in order to administer justice that will minimize congestion in correctional centres across the state.
The call was made by the Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed on Sunday when he hosted members of the judiciary and Nigeria Bar Association in the state on a Ramadan breaking of fast held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi.
Bala Mohammed said that to achieve that, his administration will continue to work with the judiciary by creating an enabling environment required for the effective and efficient administration of justice.
The governor who expressed concern with an increase in the number of gender-based violence, crimes and criminality as well as other social vices, called on critical stakeholders to join hands in ensuring speedy dispensation of justice.
He said that ” I am very excited to host members of the judiciary family today for iftar. I must say on behalf of the Executive, we are enjoying support and collaboration with the other two arms of government which makes it possible for us to do all the developmental projects that we are doing in Bauchi.”
He then called for continued understanding and collaboration between the three arms of government in the state to enable the executive to provide the needed infrastructure and services to the citizens of the state.
Turning to members of the Nigerian Bar Association in the state, Governor Bala Mohammed declared the interest of the state government to engage members of the Bar in governance to enable them to contribute positively towards the advancement of the state especially in the area of the judicial system.
The Governor said that “To members of the Bar, I am so much grateful for what you have done to me and I want to tell you that my administration is ready to support eligible candidates amongst you who are qualified for the position of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria just to appreciate what you have done to me.”
In their separate remarks, the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar and the Acting Grand Khadi, Khadi Ahmed Liman while applauding Governor Bala Mohammed for the number of projects executed in the state’s High Court Complex, pledged their unflinching support for the success of his administration.
The Chief Judge said that “Your Excellency, we are much grateful for this honour, in Bauchi we are having a cordial relationship between the three arms of government and as the judiciary, we will maintain that.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Bauchi branch, Barrister Abubakar Abdulhamid acknowledged the foresight of the governor in working in synergy with other arms of government for the growth and development of the state.
