Bauchi commends development partner for technical support in healthcare services

Bauchi State Ministry of Health commended development partners working in the state for improved healthcare delivery services through various collaboration and partnership.

State Commissioner of Health, Dr Aliyu Maigoro gave the commendation on Tuesday while delivering a keynote address during the IHP Bauchi pause and reflect learning session held at Hazibal Suites, Yelwa.

He said that the support to the State has positively impacted the development of the health sector stressing that many of the gaps in the sector have been adequately filled by the development partners particularly the USAID funded IHP intervention.

Maigoro represented by the Director, Public Health, Ibrahim Waziri said that “We have benefited from technical support to develop health, raise standards and increase indices of healthcare delivery services.”

He then reiterated the commitment of the state government through the Ministry of Health to cooperate and collaborate for a better partnership which will improve the states health development.”

In his remarks, Executive Chairman of BASPHCDA, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed stressed that without support from the development partners, it would have been near impossible for the Agency to function in the area of improved primary Healthcare coverage in Bauchi state.

Represented by the Deputy Director in the Agency, Mohammed Sani Isa, the EC specifically said that the agency has received support in the areas of capacity building and supply of consumables to PHCs across the state .”

Rilwanu Mohammed said that the review meeting was coming at the right time as it will serve as an avenue to reflect on what has been done so far in the last quarter and serve as a means to plan ahead.

Earlier in his opening remarks, State Director of IHP, Dr Siaka Alhassan said that the review meeting was an avenue for the development partners to pause and see if meaningful progress was being made in the area of the support to the State.

He urged the participants to be frank in their contributions and comments to enable IHP to understand what has been done in the past three months to enable it to make necessary corrections and plan to be able to provide technical support to the State for the development of the health sector.
