Bandits raid Kaduna communities, kill 5, abduct 17

NO fewer than five persons, including a school teacher and a 70-year-old man were reportedly killed, while 17 others were abducted by gunmen across three communities in the Eastern part of Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State between Monday, March 15 and Friday, March 19, 2022. 

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim AbubakarNagari, on Saturday. 

The statement reads in part: “We thank you for your usual support and solidarity in reporting security situation within the Birnin-Gwari general area. 

On Tuesday, March 14th, 2022, HarunaTanko DogonDawa and two others were cruelly murdered in the Eastern part of Birnin-Gwari by armed bandits on DogonDawa- Zaria road. Eight other people were abducted on the same route.

“At Layin Mahuta (Tabanni), one Abdullahi Abubakar, a school teacher was killed by bandits on Layin LasanTabanni road on Wednesday 16th March, 2022, while on Thursday 17th March 2022, a 70-year-old man was killed and seven women abducted at Layin Mahuta Tabanni. 

Two other persons were abducted by the bandits at old Tabanni. 

“In Randagi general area, bandits released 32 people out of the 46 persons abducted during attacks at Unguwar Bula and Ijinga three weeks ago, after receiving N16 million. BirninGwari Kaduna road was quiet during the period under review,” Magari added.
