Suspected armed bandits in the early hours of Thursday attacked a village under Dingyadi district of Bodinga local government area of Sokoto State killing the son of the village head while they abducted his mother and his sister-in-law

A family source who spoke with Tribune Online confirmed that one person was killed and two women in the family were abducted.

Dingyadi district is the home town of the current Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi.

The source said the gunmen came on a motorcycle and by some by foot and surrounded the village at about 12:30 am on Thursday.

He said the attackers on arrival ransacked houses looking for a particular target.

“After abducting the lady in question, Hajiya Innawuro, wife of the late village head, they macheted her son, Malam Bello Magaji who is a staff of Sokoto State government. He died on the road to the hospital,” the source further explained.

Speaking with our correspondent who was in the village on a fact-finding mission, Mansur Magaji, said his wife and his mother were abducted during the incident.

“When they came, they ransacked the house. My brother was macheted in the process and later died while being rushed to the hospital.

“The attackers also abducted my wife and mother. We are waiting to hear from them on their demand,” he said.

Efforts to get Police reaction on the incident were unsuccessful. The police spokesman in the state, ASP Sanusi Abubakar did not respond to several calls made through his mobile phone.

However, our correspondent learnt that the state Commissioner of Police, Kamaldeen Okunlola was said to have visited the scene of the crime and assured that the police are on trail of the attackers.
