Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele representing Ekiti Central on his emergence as Senate Leader of the 10th Assembly, describing him as a fit and proper person to occupy such an exalted position.

Similarly, the Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leadership of the National Assembly for the honour done to the Southwest and Ekiti State in particular with the choice of Senator Bamidele.

Oyebanji in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode on Wednesday said he was confident Senator Bamidele would discharge his duties as Senate leader effectively and bring additional value to the legislative and oversight functions of the upper legislative chamber, as well as the good governance agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

According to the Governor, Senator Bamidele is very well prepared for the national assignment, given his sound education, intellectual disposition, amiable personality and political sagacity as well as the public service and legislative experiences he had gathered over the years as a three-time commissioner in Lagos State, member of the House of Representatives and two – time member of the upper legislative House.

Describing the new Senate Leader as a man of immense capacity, a great political mobiliser and strategist with extensive contact that cut across different strata, Governor Oyebanji said he is convinced Senator Bamidele would bring all these qualities to bear on his new role as Senate Leader and work with other principal officers to build a highly effective 10th Senate that Nigerians would be proud of in terms of quality representation, coordination, cohesion, dynamism and delivery.

Governor Oyebanji urged Senate Bamidele, whom he described as a “ dear brother and friend”, to utilise the position to build a harmonious working relationship with various tendencies in the National Assembly and between the Legislative and Executive arms of government, in the overall interest of the country.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate my dear brother and friend, our distinguished Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) on his emergence as the Senate Leader. This is indeed a call to serve and a recognition of his sterling leadership qualities as a seasoned administrator, a committed democrat and an avowed believer in the Nigeria Project.

“We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly and the national leadership of our great party, APC for this honour done to the Southwest geo-political zone and Ekiti State, by the choice of Senator Bamidele for this important role.

“Senator Bamidele is a man of immense capacity who has built an excellent public service record over the years. He is a fit and proper person for the position and I am sure he will discharge his duties responsibly in the overall interest of the country,” the governor added.
