(AWO FOUNDATION WEBINAR): Expert advocates Western Nigeria Universal free primary education programme for Nigeria’s growth

A  retired Professor of Philosophy, Howard University, United States, Professor Segun Gbadegesin, has disclosed that only the type of free education programme of the Western Region led by the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, can make Nigeria reach its desired goals.

Professor Gbadegesin disclosed this while giving a presentation entitled:  “Western Nigeria Universal free primary education programme 1955-2021: The vision: historical perspective and future sustenance,” at a webinar organised by the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation.

The webinar, held on Sunday, January 17, was entitled :  “Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Children’s Education.”

According to Professor Gbadegesin,  “If education is  good for one individual, it is equally  good for other individuals. Where individuals cannot afford the good, society is obligated to provide the means to achieve the good for all. Everybody must be educated. When the majority are uneducated, the few educated cannot live a normal life as educated people elsewhere do.”
