Aregbesola, Bolaji Abdullahi, Tejuoso, others to attend Unilag Alumni Week

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; Former Minister of Youths and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi; Pro-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Senator Olanrewaju Tejuoso and others are set to attend the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association of Lagos State chapter.

Others are Managing Director, Greenwich Merchant Bank, Mr Bayo Rotimi; General Managing Director, Vita Foam Plc and Dr Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner of Heath for Ekiti State.

Speaking on the Week, The Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the association, Dr Benjamin Oluwatosin Olowojebutu said a colloquium would hold to deliberate on solutions to the economic and political challenges facing the nation will be proffered.

Olowojebutu said that the theme of the colloquium is “Is Nigeria worth saving”, adding that experts in different fields will examine the political and economic problems that are plaguing the nation and proffer ways out of the crises.

The Chairman explained that many people are tired of living in the country and want to leave; many are people tired of attacks by militants, insurgents, kidnappers, robbers and others. He argued that there is need to interrogate these phenomena, find their causes and ways to end them in the country.

Olowojebutu said that the annual week said will begin with a series of humanitarian activities, adding that the week will kick off with a thanksgiving service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, UNILAG and followed by a medical outreach from December 13 to 17 at UNILAG Medical Centre, with sports day holding December 14.

The alumni association chairman said a special Jummat service would be on December 17 at the university’s Central Mosque.

He added that an AGM/Dinner/Award would hold December 19 at Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall, UNILAG.

Olowojebutu disclosed that the chapter would begin the construction of its secretariat in the first quarter of next year and thanked the vice-chancellor of the institution for approving land for the project.

The Health Practitioner also listed some of the successes his leadership of the association has recorded, including increasing the number of former students, who have registered as active members of the association.
