There was palpable tension early Friday afternoon as some hoodlums prevented operatives of the Lagos State Police Command from sealing up premises said to belong to some nationals of China.
The Saturday gathered that the policemen were on a mission to effect a court judgement over the alleged production of fake electric bulbs.
A businessman, Ugochukwu Amadi, had dragged the company located at 194, Marwa Close Ijegun Water Site, Satellite Town, Lagos before an Abuja high court, accusing them of producing fake AKT bulbs, seeking an order of the court to seal off the production site.
The court granted the request and ordered the police to seal up the production site, pending the conclusion of investigations.
It was gathered that policemen on Wednesday with court sheriffs invaded the premises of the production site and ordered the workers and the management to enforce the court order.
The owners of the premises, who were said to be Chinese nationals however prevented the policemen from enforcing the court order.
The situation got more intense on Friday as the policemen returned to the factory only to be accosted by suspected area boys, who were mobilized to the premises by the Chinese nationals.
The situation created serious panic as the area boys insisted that the armed policemen would not be allowed to seal up the factory.
Efforts to get the reaction of the image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin failed as calls to his mobile phone number were not answered at the time of filing these reports.
