In obedience to the National Party directive, Abia State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Wednesday swore in 184 ward chairmen in the state.
Performing the function in Umuahia, at the Party Headquarters, the acting State Chairman, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Adiele Ogunka, disclosed that the swearing-in was following the directive of the Acting National Executive and a court order by Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu of Ukwa High Court Division.
He urged the ward chairmen to imbibe “quality, leadership, and inclusiveness” and to build unity and work as a team, adding “the masses have spoken”.
He also charged the chairmen at the ward level to make sure that there is unity within the party to enable them to take over Government House, Umuahia from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.
He further urged them to “be magnanimous in victory”, adding “have respect to them that deserve it, implement our brain in words and action, begin to bring all together and reach out to the aggrieved. You were not sworn in to go and fight, cause trouble or humiliate others,” Hon. Nwankpa advised them.
