APC LG congress: Osun agrees on consensus exercise

Osun State Governor, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola on Friday disclosed that the leadership of the party in the state had adopted the basis of consensus for Saturday local government congress.

He also hinted that the last ward congress in the state was ratified on Thursday at the party national Secretariat in Abuja before the elected ward congress representatives were sworn in on Friday in Osogbo.

The governor who made these known at the party stakeholders meeting held at the party Secretariat in Osogbo On Friday, however, hinted that adequate security had been placed on red alert to maintain law and order during the exercise.

Oyetola maintained that the state local government congress in the state is not for any contest as agreed by the leadership of the party and all party members but on consensus affirmed that, the exercise would just be ratified.

He thereafter expressed the state leadership of the party confidence in the ward committee congress led by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye from the party national secretariat to monitor the exercise in the state.

Oyetola described them as men of unquestionable characters who have proven their worth and demonstrated their transparent skills in the last APC ward congress a few weeks ago in the state.

While stressing that, the event would be peaceful and colourful, the governor commended the peaceful conduct of all party members in handling the progress of the party and charged them to be more united to make it more virile.

Also speaking, Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor in the state, commended the structure of the party in the state and appealed to all party members to make the exercise a fruitful one.

He also commended the congress committee members for a good job did in the last ward congress exercise in the state and charged them to maintain the tempo in the Saturday local government congress.

In her own remark at the meeting, a former speaker, House of Representatives, Mrs Olubunmi Foluke Etteh charged all party leaders in their various constituencies to go to their local governments for ratification of the consensus exercise.

She further advised party members to be dedicated to the progress of the party and described the sitting governor as a man of dignity with impeccable acumen in the field of politics and politicking.

In his own submission, a member of the National Assembly, Hon. Ajibola Bashir said in his own local government all hands are on the deck to make the exercise a crisis-free one and commended the good leadership style of governor Oyetola.

He further described the committee led by Elegbeleye as outstanding in the ache of things saying, they are men of letters.

In his own comment, the committee chairman said, the party is a harbinger of discipline that always uphold the doctrinal principle of democracy in politics.

He also stated that the list of the party leadership to monitor the exercise in every local government of the state had been presented to the committee by the state party leadership and added that, all expected assignments by the committee would also be done to make the exercise a free and fair one.

However, the party Chairman, Prince Adegboyega Famoodu, said the party had agreed on consensus and maintained that the exercise would be a crisis-free one.
