THE former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the Jigawa State governor, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar at First Government House, Dutse, the state capital.
Governor Badaru was said to have left the meeting to observe prayer at the mosque. Upon his return, the meeting continued. The meeting lasted for about four hours.
Speaking shortly after the meeting, Sheriff said he was in Jigawa in continuation of his consultation for the Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also to greet his friend, Mr Badaru.
He said: “Apart from being my personal friend, he (Badaru) is also a major stakeholder in the party.
“You know that as politicians and friends, there is no way we meet that we cannot discuss politics.
“I’m in Jigawa for consultation. And as you know, this great project cannot be done without consultation.”
Tribune Reports that Sheriff, a founder member of the APC joined the PDP in 2014 and became chairman of the PDP National Working Committee in 2016. He later returned to the APC in 2018.
