APC Congress flops in Delta North

Published by

Although Delta State Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Prophet Jones Erhue confirmed that the ward congress of the party held as scheduled and there are indications that no election took place in the north senatorial district of the state.

Delegates who came out for the election in the zone were disappointed to discover there were no materials to conduct the election.

Investigation revealed that the materials to the state  were allegedly hijacked by the deputy Senate president, Ovie Omo Agege and his loyalists.

A chieftain of the party, Dr Cairo Ojougboh   simply said that the Council of Leaders of the party in the state have decided to  boycott the exercise.

The acting chairman of the party in Oshimili southDr Obi Essumai,  in a statement mid day on Saturday, said “they was no congress in Oshimili south local government area  to which l am the Ag. Chairman of the party.”

“No congress can take place without the participation of the party chairman.

“It is the chairman that midwifes a congress. Forms were paid for by many members with their tellers on hand but could not get the form.

“Officers conducting not seen. Venue is d right of d chairman to show venues. Processes where subverted.

Meanwhile, APC Delta North Senatorial District said it  had watched actions and activities leading to the purported Ward Congresses today, Saturday, 31st July 2021, for which the distinguished leaders Council of Delta APC had copiously petitioned the national secretariat.

A statement by  Ogbueshi Ben Onwuka, Chairman  and  Apostle Victor Sorokwu , Secretary of APC Delta North Caretaker Committee on Saturday stated that  the district, which hosts the APC Delta State  Secretariat received reports of hijack of the Ward Congress materials directly from the Ward Congress Committee (WCC) delegation sent from the APC headquarters in Abuja to oversee the process.

“The Abuja delegation further revealed that the said Nick was phone number recorded, telling them he was sent by the Delta APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue to ensure their safety and safekeeping of the Congress materials.

“However, on arriving at the Delta State APC Secretariat, the WCC Officials realised they had been misled and the materials hijacked from them to an unknown destination.

“This revelations came forth during a press conference addressed by the WCC team from Abuja on Thursday, when hundreds of protesting aspirants, who had paid for nomination forms besieged the state party Secretariat to collect their forms but were given forms.”

“The aggrieved party faithful, who are significantly members of the APC in Delta North District, subsequently brought their protests to the leadership of the party in the senatorial district.

“Curiously, investigations of the APC Delta Senatorial Office revealed that the said hijacked Congress  materials were in the custody of a pressure group in the state, loyal to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.”

“The same Omo-Agege group were said to have convened cluster of incongruous meetings across the state and purported constituted themselves as ward executives from today’s supposedly ward Congress.

“APC Delta North Senatorial District however wishes to state clearly that there was no Ward Congress in the nine (9) local government areas of the zone as the Ward Congress materials were reportedly hijacked from the APC Ward Congress Officials from Abuja at the Asaba airport.

“While we await the urgent intervention of the national leadership of our party, the APC, we urge our party faithful to remain calm and unruffled while the affront is being addressed accordingly.”
