APC and 2019 election in Kaduna

THE 2019 general election is fast approaching. In Kaduna State, the battle for the soul of the state will be keenly contested. The executive governor will fight the battle of his life; there are many odds against his re-election bid.

For those who have been watching the political development of the state since the time the executive governor assumed office till date may rightly or wrongly conclude that the governor has made costly political blunders.

These errors may likely hunt him and stop his re-election bid. The mass defection recorded in the state in recent times may slim his re-election chances. It will be recalled that Kaduna State has been experiencing political crises of great proportion. The crises led to the creation of many factions vis-a-vis Akida and restoration groups; these disenchanted groups have accused the state governor for hijacking the party.

In the last two months, the party has lost big political figures and some notable political top shots may quit the party in no distant time. The crisis has seriously affected the development of the party in the state. These aggrieved politicians will gang up against the governor and stop his re-election bid.

Another odd the governor may encounter is his retrenchment policy that led to the loss of over 50,000 jobs. The reforms carried out by the governor have already received condemnation by the NLC.

As the elections draws near, how APC will swim the sea and unite its household is a battle that no one can predict its outcome.
