On the anonymous sperm donor

I read the story of the lady who requested for an anonymous sperm donor in order to have a child without any man disturbing her in one of your previous columns. While I do not want to query the woman for her request, I want to know if it is allowed in law for a woman to use an anonymous man’s sperm to father a child?

There is no law against a woman using an anonymous man’s sperm to father a child as long as the act is not done for commercial purposes. This is more so if the sperm was accessed through a lawfully recognised institution such as a hospital or agency.
