Rector of the Institution, Dr Nneka Mefor, who disclosed this during the fourth and fifth matriculation ceremonies for the National Diploma students, held at the school’s auditorium, on Tuesday, noted that the HND programmes would commence in earnest, once the challenges of the ongoing projects, improved condition of service, recruitment of more staff and other infrastructural development in the Institution were addressed.
While advising the new students to commit themselves to self-discipline, studious and meritorious living, Mefor announced that the polytechnic would establish awards for recognising best students both in character and in learning to encourage undergraduates to be good ambassadors to their families and the society at large.
She also urged parents and stakeholders to work together with the institution to actualise its dream of modelling the character and attitude of Nigerian students.
The rector noted that the polytechnic aspired to be recognised as the best in innovation, research and general service delivery in all disciplines, noting that there was a need for private-sector financial support as the Anambra State Government could not do it alone.
In an interview, some of the matriculating students appealed to the government to construct more classroom blocks and hostels for more conducive learning and teaching.
