Anambra police arrests man for allegedly raping six underage boys

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Mr Emmanuel Bassey, for allegedly having carnal knowledge of six underage boys between 10 and 14 years on different occasions at his resident in Ngozika Housing Estates Awka, Anambra State.

Mr Bassey, who hails from Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State was arrested on the 21st of February, 2020 at about 3:27 pm by police detectives attached to B’ Division Awka, following a tip-off.

The police image maker in the state, SP Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed the act to journalists in a statement, said the suspect has equally made a voluntary confessional statement to the police and blamed his urge on demons.

According to him, the scene of the crime was visited by police detectives and the six victims were taken to the hospital for medical examination.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, has ordered for immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department(CID) for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
