Amid controversy, Ondo community crowns new traditional ruler

Despite the controversy between the Akure and Isinkan communities in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, the new Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ojo (Adimula Arulewolasi III) has been crowned as the new traditional ruler of the community.

Tribune Online reports that the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, had installed a parallel High Chief, Prince Henry Adeyeye, as a Quater Chief and leader of the community, insisting that Isinkan is a quarters in Akure.

However, the kingmakers of the Isinkan community, on Thursday, installed Ojo as the 38th on the Iralepo dynasty and the 49th Oba of Isinkan after completing his traditional rites of ascension.

He was led to the ancient palace for the last traditional rites where the kingmakers, other chiefs and several notable people in the community took time to pay homage to the new king.

The new traditional ruler, while addressing the people of the community, promised to defend the interests of the people of Isinkan at all times and ensure that the ancient throne of Iralepo is protected against any act of sacrilege and preserved for generations yet unborn.

He promised to support the state government to ensure continuous peaceful coexistence of all residents and rapid development of the kingdom.

The new traditional ruler commended Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for his love for justice and for being an icon of truth.

Meanwhile, the palace has said that a date for the official coronation of the new traditional ruler would be announced.
