Israeli police, Tuesday, has confirmed that seven people were injured when a car driver rammed into pedestrians near a Tel Aviv shopping center and then got out of the vehicle to stab civilians.
Officers confirmed the suspect was driving a vehicle traveling from south to north on Pinchas Rosen Street in Tel Aviv when he “rammed into pedestrians standing in the shopping centre and proceeded to get out of the vehicle to stab civilians with a sharp object.”
The victims were taken to the Beilinson and Ichilov hospitals, according to medical officials, and emergency services are currently at the scene.
Reuters is reporting that the suspected attacker was a Palestinian from the West Bank.
One of the injured, a 46-year-old woman, is in serious condition, the Magen David Adom rescue service said.
The incident occurred on Pinchas Rosen Street in Northern Tel Aviv.
CNN reports Hamas praised the attack, a statement by the militant group’s spokesman Abdel Latif Al-Kanoa said.
Hamas did not directly claim responsibility for the attack.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also praised Tuesday’s attack, saying it’s the “response of the resistance to what is happening in Jenin,” a statement said.
The PIJ did not claim responsibility for the attack in the statement citing a leading member of the group, Khaled Al Batsh.
