6,500 applicants shortlisted for NSCDC job

Published by

A total of 6,500 candidates have been shortlisted for the final screening in the ongoing 2019 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Over 1.4 million candidates applied for the recruitment exercise that was commenced in 2019 while only 53,116 out of the number of applicants were invited to sit for the Computer Based Test (CBT).

Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi alongside Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board, Mrs Aisha El-Rufai, briefed newsmen on the development on Friday in Abuja.

Audi said the Corps, in compliance with the directive of the Board, has to notify the public of the commencement of the 2019 nationwide Recruitment Exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

He recalled that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which ravaged the world in early 2019 and 2020, the recruitment exercise was put on hold.

He, however, said now that the pandemic has reasonably subsided, the Board has reconsidered the commencement of the recruitment process.

According to him, a total of 1,474,149 prospective candidates applied for the job, while 670,000 were invited to upload, on 200,000 responded to upload of their necessary documents.

He explained that of the 200,000, the Board invited 53,116 candidates to sit for the CBT, with 6,500 eventually shortlisted for final screening out of which 5,000 would be employed.

He, however, noted that applicants with K-legs and flat feet, gross malfunction of teeth, hunchback, obesity, deformity, body tattoo and drug addicts among others would not be eligible for the final screening exercise.

“We, therefore, wish to inform all the prospective applicants that sat for the Computer-Based Test that 6,500 candidates out of 53,116 have been shortlisted to attend the final screening of credentials and physical fitness verification and will be invited via SMS from the 2nd to 25th of August 2021.

“Applicants are advised to check the application portal: http://cdfipb.careers from the 20th of July, 2021, for their names, screening locations, guidelines for the recruitment exercise and print out their invitation slip without which they will not be allowed to participate in the screening exercise,” he said.

The CG disclosed that the exercise would be conducted in six centres across the country including Kaduna, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Enugu, Abeokuta and Benin.

Audi reaffirmed that the recruitment process in the Service must go through due diligence and reflect the Federal Character principle.
