6 cars stolen in Lagos found in Anambra

THE Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered six vehicles stolen in the state, and which had been taken to Anambra State to be sold, just as the police have nabbed 10 robbery suspects in connection with the crime.

The arrested suspects had also been terrorising residents of Ayobo and Ipaja areas of the state.

While speaking on how the suspects operated, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, disclosed that the suspects broke into their victims houses at night, pack their belongings inside their cars and drive them away very early in the morning.

The suspects who are currently being investigated further are: Abomi James (34), Omokaro Efe (48), Joseph Uzuazomaro (31), Chukwudi Onyemara (27), Melvin Umeh (33), Nisma Uttah (33), Samuel Shokunbi (34), Ahmed Waheed (37), Augustine Uchenna (47) and Udoh Benedict (39), while the vehicles recovered are: Totoya Camry (FKJ 715 ES), Toyota Camry (FGG 636 MC), Toyota Matrix (EPE 429 DJ), Mercedes Benz 4matic (KRD 68 ES), Acura MDX (EKY 534 BS) and Toyota Camry (LSR 742 EW).

The police boss, while reiterating his command’s preparedness to combat crime in the state, warned robbers snatching cars at gun point and those stealing vehicles from where they are parked that the police was ready to track and locate those vehicles and return them to their owners.

The suspects, the police commissioner said, would be charge to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

While speaking with journalists, the leader of the gang, Uttah stated that members of the gang reside in Ajegunle, but operated in Ayobo and Ipaja. He added that for every operation, he would survey the area, while noting buildings to be robbed before visiting the residents at night.
