5,890 terrorists surrendered to troops in three weeks ― DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday disclosed that a total of 5,890 terrorists comprising foot soldiers and commanders of the dreaded Boko Haram Sect and the Islamic of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have so far surrendered with their families to the troops in the North East Zone in the last three weeks.

Director Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this in Abuja while updating Defeence Correspondents on the activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in theatre of operations across the six geo-political zones of the country.

He added that another 565 Boko Haram terrorists comprising three Commanders, four Amirs, five Nakibs and five cattle rustling specialists, out of the surrendered BHTs and their family members were handed over to the Borno State Government in Maiduguri for further management after thorough profiling.
