Osun State Police Command on Monday, arraigned three security guards before a Magistrate Court in Ile-Ife for failing to foil a robbery attack on an estate in Modakeke community.
The night guards, Ismaila Mohammed, 45; Bibilari Olalere, 35; and Adigun Rasak, 40; said to have, exhibited dereliction of duty on November 29, around 10 pm at Aserifa-Ola Estate, Modakeke-Ife.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Onah Glory, told the court that, the three-night guards who are the security guards in charge of the area, failed to prevent thieves from breaking into the shop of a resident identified as Owoseni Oluwatoyin on the day of the incident.
inspector Onah alleged that the defendants conspired to commit the offence, contrary to and punishable under sections 515 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and negligence slammed against them.
The defence counsel, Ben Adirieje, pleaded for the bail of the defendants in the most liberal terms, saying that his clients would not jump bail.
Magistrate O. B. Adediwura granted bail to the defendants on payment of N100,000 with one surety in like amount.
The magistrate said that the sureties, who must present their official identification cards, must swear to affidavits of means.
