Former National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Director-General, Dr Paul Botwev Orhii on Thursday picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), nomination form for the 2023 governorship election with a pledge to take Benue State to a greater height.
The governorship form was purchased and presented to him by his group of friends and associates led by Otunba Olumide at a brief ceremony in Abuja.
Dr Orhii while commending his friends for the confidence they have in him, said he would use their support as a platform to transform Benue state for the benefit of all citizens of the state.
He identified security challenges as the number one priority confronting Benue State saying that if he is elected as governor comes 2023, the security problem will be a thing of the past.
“On security challenges, I will work closely with all citizens of Benue so that we would have a common front against insecurity. I don’t believe that there is any challenge that cannot be overcome.”
He noted that Benue State has a lot of potential like agriculture that can be tapped to provide infrastructures and employment to the people of the state.
“With good leadership, Benue state can be richer than Rivers State with our agricultural potential. The current Governor of Benue state is doing a great job and I intend to build on his achievements and take the state to a greater height.”
He also advised political leaders in the state to stop placing too much emphasis on the zoning of political offices adding that there would be massive development in the state if governorship is based on competence.
He however disclosed that if he failed to clinch the PDP ticket for Benue governorship, he would still remain in PDP and help to develop the party.
Earlier, the leader of the group of friends, Otunba Olumide while presenting the nomination form to Dr Orhii said they picked the form for him ” because we love him, we have confidence that he will transform Benue state for the better based on his previous achievements in NAFDAC”.
Olumide also described the governorship aspirant as pro-people who always have a penchant for human development.
