Atiku Abubakar
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, may cling the party’s ticket to contest for the Aso Rock seat in the forthcoming 2023 general election, as he lands his first open endorsement, on Friday, 24th of September, 2021 by the national women wing of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), led by Mrs (Amb.) Bolanle Victoria Oviasojie.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, momentum has begun to gather as politicians and political parties expedite and smoothens strategy in order to get support and win the presidential election.
Recall that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has serially contested for the presidential seat but unluckily have not emerged victoriously.
Speaking in a press statement signed by Mrs (Amb.) Bolanle Victoria Oviasojie and made available to journalists in Abuja, the leadership of the party’s women wing said their decision was formed on the fact that “the former Vice President is the best man for the job at this particular period going by his wealth of experience politically.
“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a man of the people, a detribalised national figure who is loved by the people of all regions, religions and tribes across the country,” the statement noted.
Furthermore, the women stressed that Alhaji Atiku is a notable politician who has been tested and trusted by all Nigerians, adding that if voted as President, Nigeria will flourish both economically and socially.
She also reiterated the fact that the former Vice President is a political colossus, a mobiliser, a dynamic avatar and unifying force that want the best for his country and the people.
