2022 Constable recruitment not cancelled — Police Commission

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has categorically refuted recent claims circulating on social media suggesting the cancellation of its 2022 constable recruitment exercise.

In a statement addressing the misinformation, PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani clarified that such reports are unfounded and misleading.

“The Commission has not and will not cancel the final list of successful candidates from the recruitment exercise, which was conducted in clear adherence to relevant guidelines and provisions of the law,” Ani emphasised.

He further asserted the PSC’s control over the situation, affirming that the recruitment portal has been restored to its original state.

Ani urged successful candidates to disregard what he described as deliberate attempts by certain groups to discredit the Commission’s efforts in executing a transparent and inclusive recruitment process.

Highlighting the Commission’s commitment to upholding federal character, gender sensitivity, and merit as pivotal principles in recruitment, Ani cautioned against any actions aimed at undermining their process.

“The Commission restates that the portal is now fully functional and accessible. Candidates can now log in and access all its features without any disruptions,” Ani assured.

Acknowledging previous challenges faced during the recruitment process, Ani assured the public of enhanced platform security and reiterated the PSC’s readiness to address any concerns.

The dispute between the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force over the recruitment of police constables has been ongoing, with allegations of missing names and accusations of corruption.

The PSC has challenged the NPF to substantiate these claims with evidence while maintaining confidence in the integrity of its candidate selection and calling for a forensic audit of both organisations’ lists.
