2019 presidency: Federation of Igbo youths drum support for Duke/Gabam candidacy

KANO State chapter of the Federation of Igbo Youths (FIY) has thrown its weight behind the presidential candidacy of Donald Duke and Shehu Gabam for president and Vice-president respectively in the coming presidential election.

A statement from the Duke/Gabam campaign directorate made available to Journalists in Bauchi contained that the youths mostly from South-South and South-Eastern Nigeria but residing and doing their schools and business in Kano state met and decided to support the Duke/Gabam project under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The statement further contained that President of the forum, Comrade Collins Ozele stated that, “we reached this decision in patriotism for a better and progressive Nigeria where the majority of our youths will get employment, free education and good roads all over the country.”

He further said that when Donald Duke was the Governor of Cross Rivers State he showed a good example of exemplary leadership, he transformed Cross Rivers, he worked tirelessly to ensure good and qualitative education for the people of Cross Rivers. Donald Duke a man of his word a sincere and patriotic Nigerian that have the country at heart.”

He also said that Donald Duke made a very wise decision for picking Shehu Musa Gabam who is a grassroots and charismatic politician with integrity, adding that Gabam is a well experienced and vocal politician that has shown commitments and dedication in his activities.

“We will mobilise and cast our votes for these young patriotic Nigerians in the coming presidential election, we will also mobilize from our different states to vote for them, we shall continue to enlighten the general public on who these our philanthropists are, Duke/Gabam we know.”

In His response, the Bauchi state SDP Youth Parliamentary Speaker, Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan who is also the majority leader, Youth Assembly of Nigeria said, “I am very much happy that today our friends’ activists from different parts of our dear country are supporting and endorsing our leaders who we have hope in.

He said that “Duke and Gabam are icons of hope to Nigerian youths and are at this time the type of leaders we want. leaders that do not show religious differences or ethnic difference, they believe in the unity and progress of our dear country.”

He further said that Igbo Youths are very committed youths that have self-reliance and educated disclosing that “Musa Gabam is my political leader and mentor whom I have been with for almost 15 years, I know him as a straightforward and sincere person that always encourage the youth to work together and also be our brothers keepers.”

Mohammed Hassan added that Gabam is a person that does not show discrimination, he is a well experienced and exemplary leader, he spends most of his time to selfless service for humanity appealing that, ‘we must work together to achieve this victory, Duke and Gabam are the right leaders at the right time. One love one people one nation.”
