17-year-old teenager stabs 28-year-old man to death in Kano

Kano State Police Command has arrested a teenager, Aisha Kabiru, a 17-year-old for an alleged of stabbing a 28-year-old Bahijja Abubakar to death.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this to the pressmen on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, said Aisha killed the victim with a knife long after a duel.

In his words, a team of policemen from Bompai Police headquarters fished her out from her hideout at Zawaciki quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area on August 20, 2021.

According to him, “on the 19 August 2021, a report was received that one Bahijja Abubakar, 28years old of Shekar Maidaki Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, was stabbed at the back of her neck and left in a pool of her blood at the same address and the culprit fled to an unknown destination.

“Receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko raised and instructed a team of policemen led by SP Mudassir Ibrahim, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kumbotso Division to proceed to the scene.

“The team immediately arrived at the area and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where she was admitted.

“Unfortunately, on the 20 August 2021, the victim died while receiving treatment. A suspect, one Aisha Kabiru, 17years old of the same address as the deceased was arrested on the 20 August, 2021, in a hideout at Zawaciki Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State.

“On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed she had a misunderstanding with the deceased, and as a result, fighting erupted between them.

“They were however, settled, but later on, she took a sharp knife and stabbed Bahijja at the back of her neck which resulted to her death. Having realized her crime, she went into hiding.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, has directed that the case be transferred to the criminal investigation department of the command, homicide section, for discreet investigation,” he said.

DSP Haruna, further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command.

The police boss insisted that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, saying that the suspect is being charged for culpable homicide.
