​Akin Alabi Foundation empowers 80 during 10th year anniversary celebration

The​​ Akin Alabi Foundation has empowered 80 persons during the foundation’s 10th year anniversary celebration.

The non-governmental organization founded by a philanthropist-turn-politician, Hon Akin Alabi, was created to empower the less privileged in the society in 2011.

While noting that the foundation has been his pet project even before he ventured into politics, Alabi thanked God for the impact the foundation has made over the years.

He noted that the initial focus was of the foundation was to educate the youth both formally and informally to become self-reliant

He disclosed that the foundation from inception was a national project which has grown internationally, adding that the clamour by his people to bring home the good initiative led to the siting of the foundation at his constituency in Ibadan

He said the focus of the organisation changed a little bit when he got into politics as the under-privileged particularly the women population were considered greatly in the empowerment schemes, adding that over 1,500 people have been impacted by the foundation irrespective of their political affiliations.

The lawmaker who represents Ona Ara/Egbeda State Constituency at the House of Representatives said apart from delivering quality representation at the lower chamber, he has continued to set aside N250m monthly for a women empowerment initiative

He noted that over 200 persons in his constituency benefited from the programme in December 2021.

Chairman of the foundation, Mr AbdulFatai Sarumi, lauded Alabi for his continuous love and drive towards creating such an outstanding empowerment programme that has reached out to many underprivileged in the constituency.

Some of the previous beneficiaries present at the event lauded the lawmaker for the series of interventions provided in recent times including free eye treatment for over 6,000 residents at Egbeda/Ona-Ara, free surgeries, SMEs trainings among others.

The event was attended by All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the constituency including Hon Esho, Alhaji Ogundipe, Yinka Adeshina, Babatunde Ronke from Ona Ara; Alfa Bolade, Alhaji Laide Busari from Egbeda.
