Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Friday appointed Borno NUJ chairman, Malam Dauda Iliya, as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media, following the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau in February 2024.
Dauda Iliya brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in southern Borno and holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics and a master’s in Mass Communications from the University of Maiduguri.

Iliya’s professional background includes reporting for federal radio corporations covering Borno State, attending numerous professional courses and trainings, and membership in prominent bodies like the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
The Governor’s approval was announced in a statement released on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi. Zulum congratulated Iliya on his appointment, urging him to utilize his experience in service to Borno State.
