The Zamfara State ultra-modern motor park, expected to play a vital role in enhancing the economy of the state as well as revenue generation, will be completed in six months’ time.
The contractor handling the construction of the ultra-modern motor park, Field-Mark Construction Limited, said that the project, which will be completed by mid-2025, was conceived a year ago by the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal to provide a state-of-the-art motor park for the people of Zamfara.
The project coordinator, Mr Okike Kalu, said in an interview that the project aligned with the Zamfara State Governor’s urban renewal agenda.
According to him, “The project officially kicked off on the 19th of November. In less than three weeks, we have cleared the topsoil in preparation for the actual construction work.”
“However, there was a slight delay as the park’s location was adjusted, which required redesigning. While the redesigning was ongoing, we initiated preliminary construction activities to keep the site active,” Kalu said.
Kalu, who conducted journalists on an inspection of the facilities in the project, which included a mosque, travellers’ terminals, restrooms, a police station, shops for revenue generation, a hotel, a fire service unit, and a clinic, said that when completed, the project would boost the economy of the state.
“There would also be an ambulance in the proposed clinic,” Kalu said. “The park will also feature an administrative block and a mechanical workshop to provide essential services to drivers.”
While assuring timely completion of the project, Kalu said he’s confident that within six to seven months, they would deliver a modern, well-equipped motor park that meets the needs of travellers, contributes to the state’s development, and boosts economic activities.
“It will also increase the revenue generation of the state as travellers from all over the country and even neighbouring countries like Niger Republic, Mali, etc., can patronise the park.”
