The community of Anka Road, Hayin Maisalla of Galadima Ward in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has lauded the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project and appealed for a girls’ rehabilitation centre in the community.

Speaking on Wednesday evening during an interaction session between the community of Hayin Maisalla and AGILE management led by the state coordinator, Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau, a community leader, Mallam Kabiru Sani, disclosed that many of their girls had dropped out of school.

According to him, drug abuse among girls, orphan girls, and poverty, coupled with current hardship, are worrisome to the community.

“We appeal to the AGILE management in the state to consider our girls back to school and provide a girls’ rehabilitation centre to our community. Drug abuse is part of our worry in the community,” he appealed.

Also, a community women leader, Hajiya Sa’a, lauded the AGILE project in the state and called for the enrolment of more girls in the Hayin Maisalla community.

The ward head of Galadima, Malam Nasiru Galadima, called on AGILE not to relent in their efforts to assist girls, stressing that women are the bedrock of society. “Continue with your laudable projects on girls’ child education. We appreciate your efforts, and we are always in support of your laudable projects of the present administration in the state,” he lauded AGILE projects.

In her remarks, the Zamfara State AGILE coordinator, Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau, who led the management team, emphasised the importance of girls’ education to the community.
