Yvonne Hays to screen ‘Thereafter’ at AAFM today

Nigerian born UK-based Nollywood actress-cum-producer, Yvonne Hays is gradually building a strong brand for herself in the acting world.

Information reaching R suggested that she is set to screen her debut movie, entitled: “Thereafter”, at the popular African American Film Marketplace and S.E Manly Short Film Showcase, today.

The budding producer, who had earlier released the trailer of the short movie, which is currently making waves, expressed delight over the acceptability, just as she revealed that plans had been concluded to push it into series.

“We didn’t want to jump straight in with a feature as we all have no producing experience so a short film was a way in to get the much needed experience and knowledge. We have a list of potential actors and actresses that we want to work with based on their skills, knowledge and experience in the UK and African film industry, so we went through it and matched them to the characters. A good script is very important and that was the initial attraction for the actors and actresses we were told when we approached them,” she stated.

Hays noted that she was excited raising her game as a movie producer, adding that,  “I am an actress and this is my first production as a producer. I feel proud of what I have accomplished. I am grateful and blessed for the ‘nods’ the job has been getting from the film festivals. This new flick has been accepted into six film festivals already.

“Thereafter will be screened this weekend at the African American Film Marketplace and S.E Manly Short Film Showcase. Though, I submitted the movie to various film festivals but as you know, you win some and lose some. So, I was pleasantly surprised when we got a ‘Yes’ from this festival in America. It’s definitely the icing on the cake and an hounour being recognised for our effort in making this movie,” she added.
