Security agencies in Niger State including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Air Force, the Directorate of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) among others have expressed the determination to contain any security threat, not only in the state capital, but other parts of the state before, during and after the festive period.
The Brigade Commander, 31st Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General M.O. Jimoh, gave the assurance on Friday at the commencement of the joint show of force in parts of Minna the state capital, saying that it was to demonstrate the existing synergy still exist among them.
“You were aware that we have had security challenges all over the country in the past few months, particularly since the commencement of the ‘ember’ months. We want to be collectively prepared to face the challenges,” he said.
The exercise kicked off at about 8.00a.m at the state headquarters of the Niger State Police Command, Minna and terminated at the Nigerian Army Parade ground at about 10:45am.
According to him, the show of force was to ensure that hoodlums would not undermine the strength of the security agencies in the state, adding that the morale of officers and men of the security forces was very high.
In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Police Alhaji Zubairu Muazu advised residents to be conscious of their security by making sure that they report any suspicious movement at the police stations nearest to them.
In attendance at the joint show of force were the state Sector Commander, FRSC, Mrs. Susan Ada Ajenge; Commander Base 237 Service of the Nigeria Air Force, Group Captain M. B. Jibrin; the state Commandant, NSCDC, Mr. Philips Ayuba and the State Director, Directorate of the State Services, Alhaji M.S. Lawal, among others.
