As part of efforts to ensure that residents in Ona-Ara do not experience difficulties commuting during the yuletide due to traffic gridlock associated with festivities, Ona-Ara Local Government has commenced grading and sand filling of roads within the local government area.
The council chairman, Dr Temitope Kolapo Glorious, said the effort is to ensure that he fulfils his promise of traffic-free roads during the festive period, in line with his vision and commitment to development.
He stated that he doesn’t believe in a situation where communities or groups beg the government for the provision of facilities that are naturally their right, adding that “the right to good roads is part of the rights people must enjoy under a democratic government, and that is why I am trying all within my capacity to ensure peaceful and comfortable living for the good people of Ona-Ara Local Government.”
He added that his administration has prepared both human and material resources, as well as capital resources for the grading of roads to allow free and stress-free travel during the yuletide and enjoined communities to be patient, as the grading exercise will get to every nook and cranny of Ona-Ara Local Government.
He further assured the good people of Ona-Ara Local Government that road infrastructural development will not be limited to grading or sand filling alone, as there will also be rehabilitation and construction of some major roads in the coming year.
He implored the people to continue to support and pray for the success of the government of Engr. Seyi Makinde in the state and his administration in the Ona-Ara council area, reiterating that he will continue to be the people’s servant in delivering the dividend of democracy and engaging in more meaningful and people-orientated projects and interventions that will benefit the masses as well as contribute to the socioeconomic development of the grassroots.
The grading and sand-filling exercise, which started at the popular Arowona/Amuloko motor parks, will continue on a daily basis across the 11 wards of the Local Government.
