Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 850 personnel in Gombe

The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 850 officers and personnel across the state to enhance security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The deployment was announced in a statement signed and issued by SC Buhari Sa’ad, Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Gombe State Command.

He stated, “As the festive season approaches, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Gombe State Command has intensified security measures to ensure peaceful and joyful Christmas and New Year celebrations for residents and visitors, before, during, and after the celebrations.”

“In a proactive move to prevent crime and maintain law and order, the command has deployed 850 officers and personnel across the state.”

The strategic deployment covers all 11 Local Government Areas, focusing on critical locations such as places of worship, motor parks, recreational centers, and critical public and private assets.

The PRO explained that the deployed personnel are drawn from specialized units, including the Operations Department, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Agro Rangers Unit, Mining Marshal, and the Intelligence Department.

State Commandant CC Gyama Gyawiya emphasized, “The safety and security of our citizens is our top priority. We urge everyone to remain vigilant, celebrate with moderation, and report any security concerns to the NSCDC or sister security agencies.”

The command has established robust collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration, encouraging residents to cooperate with security personnel and report suspicious activities.

Key security measures include enhanced patrols in residential areas, increased presence at places of worship, shops, and recreational centers, monitoring of strategic highways, and intelligence gathering and surveillance.

He added, “I wish everyone a happy Christmas and New Year celebration. Let’s work together to maintain peace and security in the state. We are committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable festive season.”
