Yuletide: Enugu Lawmaker gives succour to widows and undergraduates

AS part of the Yuletide, a member representing Awgu-South in Enugu State House of Assembly, Honourable Nelson Uduji, has donated household materials and food items worth thousands of naira to indigent widows and undergraduates in his constituency.
Honourable Uduji who made the donation in Awgu during a Town Hall meeting he organized for the people of his constituency yesterday, gave a bag of rice and wrapper each to 120 indigent widows, also gave a bursary award of N20, 000 each to 52 indigent students studying in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The Lawmaker said that the gesture had been ongoing for the past three years, adding that he had so far given bursary awards to no fewer than 700 undergraduates in his constituency.
According to him, during 2018 budget preparation, he ensured that basic needs of his constituency were highlighted, stressing that he wanted to appreciate his constituency for the support they gave him for the two tenures he had been in the state assembly.
He said that the items were distributed equally among the six wards that made up the constituency.
Uduji explained that the relationship between the executive and the legislature was cordial and also prayed that it would continue to grow from strength to strength.
He thanked the governor of the state, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for giving members of the State Assembly an  enabling environment to carry out their duties diligently.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Mr. Stanley Okeke said that Uduji had done more than enough for his constituency and deserved to be supported.
Okeke said that he had made the gesture an annual event and had maintained it for the past three years irrespective of the economic challenges facing the country.
One of the beneficiaries and final year Law student of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Miss Ifeoma Nwafor expressed delight over the gesture.
Nwafor urged other leaders to emulate Uduji for the betterment of the country at large, pointing out that the gesture was timely as she would use the money to complete her school fee.
