The impeachment of the Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Honourable Nuhu Abok Ayuba, took another dimension on Monday as youths besieged the House to protest the impeachment.
The youths stormed the House in their hundreds as early as 6:00 a.m. carrying placards with various inscriptions condemning the impeachment.
A source close the House of Assembly disclosed that the former Speaker and 13 other members came to the House at about 6:30 a.m. and proceeded to the main chamber for a sitting but before they could put their act together, other lawmakers who impeached the speaker arrived the House.
It was gathered that there was a commotion as the two groups embarked on a shouting match before the intervention of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ebuka.
The two groups later went on a closed-door sitting with the impeached speaker presiding.
However, the stern looking police men deployed to the Assembly prevented journalists from accessing the complex.
