Bauchi State Command of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) has described as untrue and false claims that Bauchi State Government is feeding the inmates in the prisons across the state.
In a statement titled, “Alleged Feeding of Prison Inmates by Bauchi State Government: A Rejoinder” signed by the state command Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Prisons Service, Dsp Adam Abubakar Jibrin and made available to journalists on Friday, it described the statement credited to an aide of the government and an APC stalwart as “misleading and falsehood”.
The release contained that, “the attention of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Bauchi State Command has been drawn to a purported claim made by an APC party stalwart in the State in a Globe FM radio programme tagged “Daga Kananan Hukumomi” where he erroneously listed the feeding of prison inmates in the state as part of the achievements of Bauchi State government under the leadership of Governor M. A. Abubakar.”

It further contained that: “The Bauchi State Prison Command wishes to put the records straight and state that, feeding of prison inmates nationwide is the sole responsibility of the Federal Government which it has been doing relentlessly through the award of contracts for the supply of ration and gas.”
“While the service wishes to acknowledge and commend the goodwill and support it receives from the Bauchi State Government, we wish to state unequivocally that inmates feeding is not part of the state government’s gestures towards the prisons, hence, the claim by the party stalwart was baseless, misleading and should be disregarded.”
