Yorubas will continue to cherish position of Aare Ona Kakanfo — Gani Adams

Published by

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, on Sunday, said Yoruba will always cherish the position of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, saying he was focused and determined to strengthen the bond of unity and peace in Yoruba land.

Iba Adams stated this during the celebration of his 6th anniversary, which took place in Ikeja, Lagos, and graced by several royal fathers from across the South-West, pointing out that the position of the Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land is rooted in a history that was mostly celebrated in the land, being key to the progress of the stool.

The Yoruba generalissimo, while noting that the day’s event was never a jamboree, but a reflection of the sanctity and importance of the stool, restated his beliefs in the strength of the Yoruba, saying that history had provided a prestigious place for the race to take its pride of place among all races.

“What we are doing here today is never a jamboree, but a reflection of the sanctity and importance of the stool. It is not because we like partying but because it is the tradition of the position,” he said.

Aare Adams maintained that the revered stool had a huge task of seeking peace and unity in Yorubaland, expressing the belief that with restructuring in place, the issue of insecurity would surely become a thing of the past.

Speaking further on the day’s event, tagged: ‘6th In Anniversary of Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land and New Chieftaincy Ceremony’, Iba Adams said the appointment of the Aare-in-Council was to reposition the office of the exalted office for greater tasks and responsibilities.

“Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land cannot do it alone, he will need people that can assist in making key decisions in the interest of the race. So the Aare Ona Kakanfo Chiefs-in-Council are products of my good office and they play different but complementary roles in advancing the course of the race.

The Yoruba generalissimo expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for sending a powerful delegation from Ife to the event, even as he applauded the Oyo Mesi and other prominent Obas that graced the occasion.

The three newly inaugurated chieftains at the event were Chief Oluwole Adedeji as the Jagunmolu Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief (Mrs.) Alice Eniola as the Yeye Gbareniyi and Chief Sakiru Adedayo Omoyeni as the Opeluwa Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land.
