To achieve a credible result in the coming general elections, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), Egbe Igbimo Agba Yoruba, in Kwara State, has called on Nigerians to shun violence before, during and after the polls in all parts of the country.
In a statement issued by its chairman and secretary, Elder Sunday Abogunrin and Reverend William Owolabi, respectively, the group enjoined parents to advise their sons and daughters against being used as tools of destabilisation.
The group, which advocated for peaceful elections, stressed the need for voters to actively participate in the conduct of the election by coming out en masse to vote for the credible candidates of their choice.
The Igbimo Agba Yoruba in the state also advised politicians to run the race according to laid down rules and regulations, saying that they should adopt the spirit of sportsmanship.

Describing the group as nonpolitical and nonreligious, the elders called on political leaders, religious leaders and traditional rulers to discourage thuggery and all acts capable of tarnishing the image of the country.
