The Yobe government on Wednesday approved N3.7 billion for procurement of vehicles, sponsorship of lecturers for post graduate studies and road construction among others.
Alhaji Mala Musti, state’s Commissioner for Information disclosed this in Damaturu while briefing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting.
He said that N1.33billion was approved for payment of counterpart fund for Universal Basic Education projects.
“The council approved N289.5 million for the sponsorship of 28 academic staff of the state university for post graduate studies.
“The sum of N110.9 million was also approved for procurement of three bus ambulances for the State University Teaching Hospital.
“The council approved N486.7 million for the construction of the Nguru Lake irrigation scheme and N735.5 million for road construction and rehabilitation in Damaturu,” he said.
According to the commissioner, N91.2 million was also approved for supply and installation of furniture at the state specialist hospital, Damaturu.
Similarly, renovation work at Government Secondary School, Nangere and Government Girls Secondary School, Nguru, are to gulp N72.3 million and N55.6 million respectively.
The commissioner said a new Multiple Purpose Hall would be constructed at the government house at the cost of N196.3 million.
