Yobe approves N1.196bn as payment of gratuities

Gov Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe has approved N1.196 billion for the payment of gratuities to 651 retirees who retired  or died in service between February 2015 and October 2015.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, the Director of Press to the governor, disclosed this in a press statement on Friday in Damaturu.

He said the payments would be made to the affected beneficiaries from the Paris Club refund received from the Federal Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had approved over N883 million five weeks ago for payment of gratuities to 443 civil servants who retired between June 2014 and February 2015.

The state government had also set up a committee to verify the retirees for the payment of their benefits.
