Nigerian music sensation, Waje, does not want to be dragged into any competition with any of her female colleagues despite pressure from fans to create one. The singer does not seem to be worried about being the best, but would only want to concentrate on her music career.
Findings by R revealed that in the last few years, fans of Yemi Alade, Waje and Tiwa Savage have attempted to pitch her against the duo of Alade and Savage in their bid to establish who the best singer is among them.
While Waje and Savage have both featured on each other’s songs, same cannot be said of Alade, who loves to be called Mama Africa as she is yet to feature neither Waje nor Savage in any of her songs. Fans have waited endlessly to see them jump on each other’s songs but that is yet to happen.
In recent times, Savage and Alade have subtly thrown shades at each other on different platforms but Waje has maintained her stance to stay neutral. And days back, a fan tried to ask her once again who is the bestsinger among the trio, she responded by saying “All of us are the best.”
Waje, a mother of one, who was one of the judges on the music show, The Voice Nigeria, is set to stage her maiden music concert, the Red Velvet. The concert, which comes up in September, will parade popular stars in the music industry.
According to the event organiser, the concert would showcase Waje’s acclaimed R&B album and “explore its passionate themes with a distinctively new burlesque story-telling style”.
Mavin Records’ alternative and soul act, Johnny Drille, will lead the star musicians billed to perform at the concert, while the event would be hosted by actress and comedienne, Chigul.
Speaking about the coming event, Waje expressed her excitement, saying; “I have wanted to do this for a long time, to sing my truth to the world, my way. My goal has been to have a very intimate, passionate experience with you! The stars have aligned and it’s finally time! Please join me,” she wrote.
The concert is slated for September 1, at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre in Lagos.
