Nigeria’s sensational female performing artiste, Yemi Eberechi Alade, simply known as Yemi Alade, was overcome with emotions while performing in her hometown for the first time.

The singer was part of the crop of A-list artistes featured at the ongoing national music tour organised by telecommunications giant, Globacom, which had its last stop-by in Akure, Ondo State.

The event was held at the Golden Events Centre, Akure, featuring some of Nigeria’s most successful musicians in Nigeria, including the Mama Africa crooner, whose late father hailed from Ondo State.

“It may interest you all to know that this girl standing before you tonight is actually from this great State, Ondo State. My father was from Ondo state and I am happy that Glo brought me back home. If my daddy were to be alive today, he would be happy that his daughter is back home.”

Yemi Alade told her audience that her late father would have been proud of her “homecoming” if he were to be alive.

She thanked the audience for showing her so much love.

“I am your daughter and your sister and I am delighted to come to my roots, and I thank Globacom once again for this opportunity to see my people. I love you all,” she expressed.

The songstress was born in Abia State, Nigeria to the late James Alade from Ondo State and mother Helen Uzoma from Abia State resulting in her being referred as “Yoruba-Igbo girl”.

She is the fifth out of the seven children in her family and attended St Saviour British Primary School, then went on to Victory Grammar School, Lagos, before obtaining a degree in Geography at the University of Lagos.

Other artistes who entertained at the massively attended event include Runtown, Timaya, Phyno, Olamide and Korede Bello.

The show was anchored by two top actresses, Uche Jombo and Juliet Ibrahim, while the most celebrated Yoruba movie star, Odunlade Adekola, made celebrity guest appearance.

Female jukebox master, DJ Lambo, dished out hot vibes to the delight of the crowd.
