Xmas: Enugu police begin children parley in style

AS Christmas and New Year Celebrations draw nearer, Police in Enugu have begun its annual activity tagged, “Handshake with the Commissioner of Police”

Nigerian Tribune learnt that the programme began on December 7, this year at the state police headquarters parade pavillion inside the police Headquarters beginning from 10am for all the invited primary and secondary schools including government and privately owned ones.

The State Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said that the programme is being organized by the Police Public Relations Department with a view to to erasing  fears of police in minds of children

“Many children may have been frightened  at several times by their various parents and guardians with the word Police when they tell children or their wards that they will call police for them if they don’t do what they asked them to do thereby frightening and also creating a negative impression about the police as an intimidating and frightening force  in their minds.”

According to Police image maker, “when the children grows with that in their mind,they will begin to see police from a negative perspective and that this programme is designed to correct the perceptions by children and expose them to carear opportunities abound in the Police Force. And Police are their friend in need and indeed”

“This is the second Edition of the programme which we started  last year and we thank indomie foods, Ait, Nta, print media organizations as well as Radio Nigeria for their support.

He stated, “during the programe, children will interact with very senior officers of the police command and have handshake with them and of-course visit the Chaplain  Department, medical, Animal Branch, Band and ofcourse the Sports personnel of the command as well as the commands civil engineers just to mention but a few”
