THE National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ogun State, on Thursday, picketed some South African firms in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
This development was a result of the spate of killings of Nigerians living in the country, which is becoming worrisome.
Tribune Online recalls that the Federal Government had frowned at attacks on Nigerians residing in South Africa, saying it would no longer tolerate such unwholesome attitude towards the people.
The students body, led by its National Public Relations Officer, Azeez Adeyemi, said it would shut down firms being operated by South Africans in the state if the xenophobia attack is not put under check.

The offices of Stanbic IBTC Bank, MTN and MultiChoice were shut down by the students.
The NANS PRO added that all the offices would not be opened for business until further directive from the National President of the Association.
Adeyemi said, “We cannot watch our brothers in South Africa being killed in the name of xenophobia. Our plan in this struggle; we have shut down MTN, Stanbic IBTC Bank and MultiChoice offices.
“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, our own reaction here will be three times their own actions.
“If they destroy a Nigerian business over there, we will shut down six South African businesses here and if they reopen any organisation that we have shut down, they will see the wrath of Nigerian students. We will not hesitate to show them what Nigerian students can do.”
